Cap City Buzz

Privacy Policy

How Cap City Buzz collects and uses information from newsletter readers, event submitters, advertisers, and site visitors.

Effective May 28, 2026

Information we collect

When you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect the email address you provide and, when included, your first name, ZIP code, signup source, UTM/source data, and email engagement data from the newsletter platform.

When you contact us or submit an event, we collect the information you choose to send, such as your name, email address, message, event details, venue information, organizer contact details, links, image URLs or uploaded media references, and notes.

If you inquire about advertising, paid placements, Local Spotlight, or sponsorships, we may collect business, campaign, package-interest, contact, fulfillment, and payment-related details. Payment information is handled through Stripe or Stripe-hosted payment tools.

Like most websites, our hosting provider, analytics tools, form provider, and security/spam-prevention systems may process basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages requested, timestamps, referrers, and error logs.

How we use information

We use information to deliver the Cap City Buzz newsletter, respond to messages, review submitted events, coordinate advertising inquiries, manage paid placements, prevent fraud or spam, understand site performance, and improve the reader experience.

Submitted event, business, image, link, and description details may be edited, summarized, categorized, published, promoted, rejected, or removed if Cap City Buzz decides they are a fit for readers.

Email engagement data helps us understand whether newsletter content is useful. Analytics data helps us see which pages and local topics readers use most.

Service providers

Cap City Buzz uses service providers to operate the site and related workflows. These may include Beehiiv or another newsletter platform, Formspree or another form provider, Supabase, Stripe, analytics tools, the hosting provider, and email or CRM tools used to manage reader, advertiser, or submission workflows.

These providers process information according to their own terms and privacy practices. We share information with them only as needed to run the site, deliver emails, process payments, manage submissions, respond to requests, and improve Cap City Buzz.

Cap City Buzz does not sell personal data.

You can unsubscribe from newsletter emails using the unsubscribe link included in those emails.

The newsletter may include advertiser, sponsored, or paid placement content. We do not use deceptive subject line promises, and event details in the newsletter should be confirmed with the organizer or venue before attending.

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the newsletter, manage submissions, respond to requests, operate the site, and maintain business records.

We use reasonable safeguards and reputable service providers, but no website, email system, or online service can promise perfect security.
